Peace in Tragedy

Our church family was rocked this week when our assistant pastor's daughter Naomi was in a very serious car accident.  Her most serious injury now is a brain injury and she is still in a coma.  My heart is heavy tonight for the Hannah family, but with the heaviness is also a peace.  Peace that the Lord is in control and He is a God of love and compassion.  She is the youngest of 10 children and they are all very talented musically.  So, two of her brothers sang a song this morning titled My Little Sister Nay, written for her.  I was so moved at how a tragedy like this can bring a family so close to the Lord for strength, peace and hope.    Naomi's sister Tabitha wrote this on her caring bridge site,

"I just love the Lord for His goodness and His peace!

We need to praise Him! This trial is stirring us up, and stretching our faith, and we are becoming more like Christ because of what our sweet Naomi is going through!

Love you all, and again, thank you so much for your support and prayers!"

If you'd like to check out the song it's on you tube, the link is below and the caring bridge site as well.  If you would like a glimpse into what the Lord is doing through this tragedy, just check out the guest book section.  So amazing, but I confess I did need my tissues.  If you feel lead, please pray for the Hannah family.

Ice Skating

The last time I ice skated was probably in middle school, but since Carter is in a hockey/skating class we went to the rink as a family today.  It was so much more fun than I thought it would be.  Despite a 3 year old tantrum, the kids loved it too.

The jewelry box was something that the boys made this morning at Lowe's.

Dinner with my honey after the kids went to bed.

daisies are the happiest flower

Rochester Museum and Science Center

Their favorite part of the Science center was the simulation of being in an earthquake.  Why is it, that vibration automatically makes my kids make noise and laugh.

Birdsong Trail

We went to Mendon Ponds park today and fed the birds.  I have never been and it was so wonderful, the kids loved it and it was free!  I had planned on meeting our homeschool group there for the field trip, but life happened this morning and I decided we would deal with that first and then try and go.

This is Law's arm.  I was so proud of him.
He tried so hard to keep still and quiet.  Always a challenge for a 3 year old.
I was so happy to get a picture of it!

Moving my parents

Our trip to Rockford, Illinois.

I took the opportunity of having their attention in the car, to go over some political science and geography.  I found pictures of each state we went through, our country, our world, our new president, our flag, and our solar system.  Carter is really interested in space so he loved the space pictures.

My mom cooks for the girls at a sorority house, so we went to work with her for a half day and my boys loved it.  One of the girls, Jenny, talked with Carter for, I think, an hour about space.
She is also in ROTC and taught him how to salute and army  crawl.  She was so sweet.  He drew her a picture of space, I think he has a crush.

A flower always  makes a kitchen look like home.

My dad cuts wood on his table saw and the boy just love it.
Swedish pancakes....yum.
While we were working the boys popped bubble wrap and colored really big pictures of Wallee.

Law was pretending he was painting their house.
The Discovery Center is a really cool museum for kids in Rockford.  Since we have a membership to the Strong museum, we get in free.  On Monday when mom and dad went to work, Beej and I took the boys.
